Pajara Pinta is a Colombian lifestyle brand that ethically  produces handmade bags and accessories in partnership with local artisans, indigenous communities and single mothers across Latin America.

Born in 2014, it is the creation of designers Isabella Domínguez and María Paula Vargas who met whilst at Design School.  Being aware of the importance that nature played in their lives they decided to create a brand that exalted nature’s power and reminded them of where they belonged—to a country full of treasures hidden in unexplored wilderness.

“We want our products to offer a way to reconnect with the beauty of nature—and to encourage an attitude of valuing and preserving it,” say the brand’s creators.

With a strong belief in the treasure trove of wisdom and beauty in the handcraft techniques that local tribes and artisans have been using over the centuries. They seek to empower local communities and small artisan workshops, helping preserve for future generations their time-honored artisanal traditions. They work hand in hand with them in new, respectful ways that allow them to find new perspectives for their abilities.

They are committed to making everyday decisions that are guided by durability, ethical practices, fair trade and next-to-zero waste.

Pájara Pinta is pronounced “pahara peenta.” The expression comes from a famous Spanish song, and the two words describe a colorful (female) bird.
