K’era Morgan, the founder of K-Apostrophe, is a Los Angeles-based artist and textile designer. Her creative process is an intuitive one resulting in vibrant mixed-media pieces on paper that fuse painting, collage and mark-making. Her mixed-media artwork is the basis for her ever growing collection of home textile accessories that include woven blankets, pillows and tapestries. Her goal is to elevate normal everyday goods into functional pieces of art that come together to create a comfortable and casual home sanctuary. She is proud to collaborate with artisans in the USA and Mexico to bring her designs to life.

In addition to having her work exhibited across the United States, her original artworks as well as textile goods can be found in homes across the globe. Publication where you may have seen her work include: Elle Decor, Essence, GQ, Californina Home & Design, Lonny and NY Magazine to name a few.

The Production Process

Before a blanket becomes a blanket or a pillow designed to add comfort and colour to a sofa, it’s an original piece of artwork or a sketch that is done by hand.

Once a piece is finished and if selected to have a second life beyond a print or framed piece of artwork, it is scanned and turned into a digital file with precise specifications regarding colour, size and resolution. Then it is off to the mill for weaving, cutting and sewing. Samples come first followed by tweaks and adjustments with the help of skilled craftspeople to get the design just right.

A final version is woven, cut and expertly sewn for a final stamp of approval to ensure that you will receive the best conceived product.

Keep in mind, every purchase of a woven product is made to order by loving hands and skilled craftspeople, not mass produced.
